I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2001 and I believed the stigma myself for many years. I have not truly accepted my bipolar disorder until recently because of the stigma.

I am now challenging the messages the stigma brings and slowly accepting this as a strength rather than a weaknessThere is hope, and today I take responsibility for my bipolar disorder by staying on my medications, seeing my therapist and doctor regularly and trying to look at myself in the mirror daily with love and compassion.You are not alone, you are loved, and there is hope beyond the stigma that you can live in this world proud to say I survive my mental illness every day!
