Almost 11 hours after a power blackout incapacitated the world’s busiest airplane terminal, Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International recovered its power late Sunday night.
The lights glinted on in a matter of seconds before midnight, following a debilitating day for travelers, that had left thousands stranded in dull terminals and on planes sitting in the landing area.
A ground stop in Atlanta disturbed air to traverse the United States and prompted cancelations of more than 1,000 flights all through the air terminal.viaThe blackout, which influenced all air terminal operations, began with a fire in a Georgia Power underground electrical office, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said.
