“Turning Red,” Pixar’s latest release about a young Chinese-Canadian girl on the verge of growing up, touches on a number of relevant issues and struggles that come with growing up.
I found Meilin, the main character who turns into a red panda when she gets emotional because of an ancient tradition passed down from her ancestors, incredibly relatable.
Much of the story touches on Mei’s struggles with balancing her Canadian culture, and friend circle, with her traditional Chinese upbringing.
