What It Means for Me to Be a Peer Support Leader

I have been in peer support since Feb. 2002. I was a leader in a 12-step group for 15 years. In those 15 years, I did some of the most rewarding things of my life.

I was able to give people like me the things that I always wanted the most in my life: acceptance and friendship. I was able to give those to people because others gave them to me and taught me how to share them.

They are still the two most important things to me. Before I get into everything that is important to me as a leader, I need to tell you how I became a leader.
