Laughter Yoga is a unique concept which involves combining prolonged intentionally laughter with calming breathing exercises of yoga.
It was started in 1995 by a medical doctor in Mumbai, India after he did some research for an article he was writing on the benefits of laughter.
Dr. Kataria discovered the research clearly demonstrated the health benefits from laughter and it didn’t matter whether that laughter was spontaneous or intentional (faked!).
A group of 5 people joined him in the park & started the first laughter club. Initially, they told jokes to get everyone laughing but ran out of clean ones after 2 weeks.
