New research discovers optimal integration remains limited by cultural and financial barriers. However, providing technical support and improved payment models may enhance the long-term sustainability of the approach, according to the RAND Corporation study conducted in collaboration with the American Medical Association.
Researchers examined a diverse group of 30 physician practices that have pursued behavioral health integration. They found that by incorporating mental health services with medical care improved improve quality by expanding access to behavioral health services.
