How volunteering helped me come out of my shell

Reading now: 795

I have been volunteering at the Skipton shop since October 2019. I didn’t know what to do with myself after finishing school, I originally went to college to study media, but it wasn’t right for me.

I’ve never been one to sit in a classroom, so volunteering with Mind has been brilliant. My mum and sister both suffer from depression, so I have been around mental health problems my whole life.

Now I want to work in mental health and help more people, so they don’t have to suffer like my family and I have. Sadly we lost our auntie last year to suicide which has been extremely difficult for our family.
