Over the many years I’ve been working with people, one of the biggest barriers I’ve discovered to self-care has been GUILT. (In case you missed them, I wrote two great posts on guilt—“Do You Have a Guilt Button? ” & “How to Break Free from Your Guilt Button. ”)So, the fact that Mary was able to say “I don’t feel guilty one bit! ” was such a refreshing thing to hear!
Hoping she could lead the way and help others take a step in this self-care direction, I asked her how she got started. This was her response: “I told the kids, unless there was a limb hanging or blood dripping, whatever they wanted from me could wait until I was done. ”She went on to share how she could sometimes hear the kids at the door talking about how much longer until she was done.
