The COVID-19 crisis has fractured our lives in ways we had never imagined, cutting us off from many of the things that defined the contours of our lives: work, relationships, a daily routine.

It can feel like a part of your identity is missing, making it hard to find a sense of wholeness. As I’ve written previously, trauma often provides an opportunity for growth (7 Ways Survivors Can Grow After Trauma), and our current situation is no exception.

It’s important to note at the outset that acknowledging the possibility of posttraumatic growth does not deny the reality of our situation, or gloss over the human suffering.
