I remember being in a group consultation seven years ago. Most of the women that resided in the facility where I was training struggled with self-esteem issues.
I recall posing the question during consultation, “How can we help them develop higher self-esteem?” No one had the answer. In fact, our clinical director replied, “I don’t know.
That’s the magic question.” Honestly, I felt a little bit discouraged. Low self-esteem, low self-worth and overall unstable self-image were so pervasive among our patients that it seemed to me, without the answer, we couldn’t really help these women.
