April 15, 2021At least one in seven adult patients of psychiatric outpatient clinics has symptoms of ADHD — more than 5 times the rate found in the general population — according to a recent systematic review and meta-analysis published in the Journal of Attention Disorders.
After administrating ADHD screening tests to patients, the clinics found that one in four adults demonstrated symptoms of ADHD.
More detailed assessments including interviews revealed a slightly lower ADHD prevalence rate of 15% among adult patients, most of whom were not previously diagnosed.
