Social media gets a bad wrap. It’s bad for your brain. It makes you anxious. It takes you out of the present moment. Valid points, sure.
But there are positive ways to use social media. You can use it to be more productive, connect with others, and maybe learn something about yourself.
People often talk about the negative effects of social media, and there’s a space for that. The American Academy of Pediatrics talks about the negative effects of social media in kids and teenagers, even using the phrase “Facebook depression.” The authors of a study from Nottingham Trent University said “it may be plausible to speak specifically of ‘Facebook Addiction Disorder.’” Social media can lead to less productivity.
