Learning to Set Priorities in My Life With Chronic Illness
I used to be a “to-do” person: making lists for what needed to be done that day, submitting university assignments the day before they were due and getting on with the things that needed to be done when they needed to be done. When Our Third Child Was Born With a Congenital Heart Defect
When our third baby, Peter, was one day old, he was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. We were promptly transferred to the nearest children’s hospital, which was about three hours away from our home. We ended up staying there for the next eight months of his life. Before Peter was born, I was the mother of two healthy, typically-developing kids. I felt pretty confident in my ability to parent a new baby; but seeing my newborn in the NICU and PICU, with lines, monitors, sedation, breathing tubes, bandages, and illness…it was like I forgot how to be a mom.

Taking the Fear Out of Fitness: How to Boost Your Confidence When You’re Working Out
Here are a few tips I learned that I hope will help you find your confidence and help you along your fitness journey. When I first started running, I had only the bare minimum of kit. A beaten-up old pair of running shoes from a thrift store, a worn-out pair of shorts, and an old college tee were about as technical as I got.But nothing boosts your confidence like some high-quality, functional and, yes, stylish activewear.

Research Reveals How Pink Noise Promotes Better Sleep
recommended amount of sleep each night. Here are just a few health consequences of sleep deprivation:As you can see, a lack of sleep can affect many aspects of health, and today, people seem to have more sleep troubles than ever. Many doctors recommend white noise to help people get better sleep, but now, pink noise appears to show some promise as well.Below, we’ll explain what pink noise is and how you can incorporate it into your sleep routine to get a restful night’s sleep.First of all, what the heck is pink noise anyway? It operates on the lower range of frequencies compared to white noise, so this results in deeper sounds with more bass.Humans can hear frequencies ranging from 20 hertz to 20,000 kHz.

Difficult to Stay Positive When Sleep Deprived
sleep deprivation can impact emotional health.Although most sleep research is done in laboratories (sleep labs), the research was unique as investigators studied participants who slept at home. Associate Professor Ingvild Saksvik-Lehouillier from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology’s (NTNU) Department of Psychology, led the study.Saksvik-Lehouillier said less sleep than normal did not necessarily lead to more negative feelings, like being down or depressed.

Misplaced Worth
Have you ever heard of the term misplaced worth? Something that almost every human being who exists on this planet, go through?I watched an 8-year old boy audition for “The Voice Kids”. This boy came onto the stage and sang a song. He put his whole heart into his performance and it was felt by the audience, including myself. Was it technically perfect? No. You could see that the judges were emotionally moved by the performance, but not one of them turned their chair around, which would have indicated an interest in pursuing the singer further. Immediately after the boy’s performance was over, there was a sense of disappointment that fell on the boy. You could feel his pain as the judges were speaking to him after the performance.
