In December 2019, I started my journey as a volunteer for RAINN and the National Sexual Assault Hotline (NSAH). Among its services, the NSAH provides an anonymous chat service, where survivors of sexual assault can speak with a trained staff member or volunteer.
No personal information is collected (unless mandated by law), no chat transcripts are saved, and what is shared is confidential and anonymous.
And unfortunately, the demand for this service continues to grow each day. I say “unfortunately” because I wish things like this didn’t even need to exist.
